When it comes to getting residents back into their homes in Fort McMurray, ATCO wants to assist.

The company wants to do a natural gas safety inspection, re-light natural gas appliances and make sure everything else is working for homeowners.

Nathan Carter with ATCO says, there are a few ways you can set up appointments.

“The first is, they can go to atcoresponds.com and when they’re there, they submit a natural gas service request form. We also recognize that not everybody has internet access, so another way they can set up an appointment is to visit the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Information Centre” said Carter. “At each one of those centres across Fort McMurray, we’re going to have ATCO representatives and they’ll help people through the process to arrange a visit from us.”

The third option is to call ATCOs customer service centre at 310-5678.

And if homeowners are not planning on heading back just yet, Carter says they can check the map.

“Beginning June 1st, we’re going to have published our Utility Restoration Map, which reflects the latest information on natural gas and electricity service in the Fort McMurray area. We’re updating that map daily and really, that allows residents to determine whether or not electricity and natural gas are available in their neighbourhood” said Carter. “And for more information, you just have to keep going to atcoresponds.com and, basically, that will go through the steps in making sure they have service when they get home.”

Crews will be working between 7:30am and 10pm seven days a week to get natural gas and electricity back on for customers.
