The highway will be busy, the hotels booked and the bars full as Garth Brooks plays the first five of NINE sold out shows this weekend in Edmonton! According to the Edmonton Journal the shows, which will also feature Brooks wife Trisha Yearwood have sold an estimated 160,000 tickets worth approximately $12.8 million. With a show Friday night and two each Saturday and Sunday the downtown core of Edmonton is expected to be PACKED with Country fans.

The quick turnaround presents some logistic challenges for the staff of the brand new Rogers Place. Immediately following a Thursday night match-up between the Edmonton Oilers and the Philadelphia Flyers the crew will go to work installing fiberglass flooring, taking out the glass and moving seats in preparation for the Garth crew expected to arrive at 2 AM local time. Then on Saturday and Sunday between the matinee and evening shows- the venue will have roughly 45 minutes to pick up garbage and restock concessions. Rogers Place estimates they will sell about 59,000 litres of beer during the shows. Many Edmonton bars including Cook County Saloon on Whyte Ave, The Ranch on Argyll and The Canadian Brewhouse on Ellerslie Road will be offering shuttle service.
