Hard to imagine she didn’t have one before, but huge congratulations to Jess Moskaluke for scoring her first #1 hit with “Country Girls” on the Billboard Canadian Country National Airplay chart released today! Posting on social media, Jess considered it “a goal that you’d always thought was impossible,” that “it’s tough to know what to feel,” while acknowledging this career feat “is a big one.”

Jess was “shaking as I write this” and “I somehow feel completely speechless.” Yet the classy lady did manage to compose her thoughts thanking many people. The list included Canadian radio with Moskaluke noting, “It’s SUCH a good time for Canadian music, and I hope this trend continues!”

Speaking of trends, “Country Girls” is the fourth Canadian chart-topper this year. There was the same number by the end of March last year, a record-setting year for the most Canadian songs at #1, twelve in total with eight from artists who enjoyed scoring their first #1.

Jess went on to thank her team and her Nashville co-writers on the song, Corey Crowder and Emily Shackelton. She posted, “Thank you for helping me write my first chart topper – let’s do this again RIGHT now!!!”

Moskaluke also thanked her fans and urged them to keep “requesting, listening, streaming, watching, and singing this song.” She added, “I can’t wait to play this one for you live and celebrate this with you on the road!” As the old saying goes, timing is everything. Tomorrow night, Jess will be in Brandon, Manitoba to perform as part of Gord Bamford’s #Redneck Music Fest Tour. It’s gotta be a nice feeling to begin the first part of the tour with the #1 country song in Canada!

Jess Moskaluke also mentioned the road to get to this moment in her career “didn’t come easy.” She took a moment to look back, explaining, “It didn’t come without many doubts, highs and lows, and it definitely didn’t come overnight. I’m 10+ years into this career, 17 radio singles released, 5 albums deep, and the timing couldn’t possibly be any more perfect than right now. I am one damn lucky Country Girl.”

Timing and luck do play a role in just about any artist’s success. But you also have to have the talent. That, Jess Moskaluke doesn’t have to prove to anyone.
