Walker Hayes got some tears out of Today’s Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb when he brought his youngest daughters, Loxley (“Lolly”) and Everly (“Goo”) to the show to perform his stirring song “If Father Time Had a Daughter.”

As they got ready to sing, co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb asked about the meaning of the song.

“It’s about my little girls growing up. I talk a big game about raising these youngins like, you raise them so they’ll leave. But now that as mine get older, I’m thinking, ‘Hey wait up a second! Slow it down. You young ladies,'” says Hayes.
